BPI hosts "State of the art therapy in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia"

Under the patronage and the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Public Health Mr. Wael Abou Faour, BPI hosted a conference entitled “State of the Art Therapy in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia” addressed by Professor Hagop Kantarjian, Chairman & Head of Department- Leukemia at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston-Texas.

Professor Kantarjian tackled the topics of the Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) Treatment, the response rates achieved with the drugs available, and the methodology of evaluation of response, in addition to the mechanisms of resistance with the mutations available and how to overcome them. Also, he addressed the issue of the first line therapy with “Imatinib” and the latest drugs in the market and most importantly when to switch therapies.

Mr. Wael Abou Faour awarded Professor Kantarjian a gold medal from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
